SONET/SDH Path Delay

Anue Path Delay Network Emulators are ideal for SONET VCAT network emulation in a lab environment. Path Delay Network Emulators create individual path level delays identical to those that occur during the transmission of SONET/SDH signals.

Does your solution:

  • Work properly in the presence of differential delay?
  • Handle bit errors?
  • Detect and respond properly to LOS/LOF alarms?

Anue Path Delay Network Emulators:

  • Run 100% line rate traffic from 155Mbps to 10Gbps
  • Can be automated or operated interactively, locally or remotely
  • Provide accurate network emulation down to one-bit time increments
  • Enable delay of 250ms or more at all bit rates

Maui and Hawaii Network Emulation Hardware Platform

The SONET/SDH Path Delay Network Emulation tool is available on a 2U rack-mount chassis that supports up to 7 software loads. There are two platforms available:

  • The Maui platform supports up to four blades and data rates up to 2.6Gbps.
  • The Hawaii platform supports up to two blades and data rates up to 11.3Gbps.

 Supported rates

  • OC-3/STM-1 (155.52Mbps)
  • OC-12/STM-4 (622.08Mbps)
  • OC-48/STM-16 (2.488Mbps)
  • OC-192/STM-64 (9.953Mbps)

 Delay

  • Delay the path layer with absolute delay from 40us to 320ms and differential delay from 0ms to 319ms (first to last path) in 154.32ns increments (one pointer position).
  • Individually delay each path contained in non-concatenated signals.
    • Fully supports Telcordia GR253/2000 Table 5.1 for payload concatenation. For example, differentially delay 48 separate STS-1 paths, or 4 separate STS-12c paths, or 8 STS-3c paths plus 24 STS-1 paths.
  • Introduce delay with minimal effect on overhead bytes.
    • All defined and reserved overhead bytes are conveyed transparently, except that B1/B2 are recalculated and H1/H2/H3 are adjusted. SS bits are passed transparently.
    • Received pointer adjustments are delayed by the same amount as the associated SPE data.
    • Delayed paths are reassembled into an OC-3, OC-12 or OC-48 signal logically identical to the original.
  • Dynamically change delay of each path simultaneously and independently through pointer increment/decrement without affecting data.

 Error

  • Set error rates from 10-12 to 10-2.
  • Inject errors on individual paths or entire SONET frame.
  • Simulate AIS-P/UNEQ-P, loss of signal or loss of frame under user or program control.

 Operation

  • Configure via a front panel LCD control for standalone operation
  • Configure remotely via an Ethernet control port
    • Interactive: Browser-based GUI with save/load capability
    • Automated: Powerful TCL script library

Note: Up to 7 software loads for different protocols (SONET, OTN, Ethernet, Fibre Channel, CPRI) can be combined on the same system. A combo network emulation system can easily switch between different features, data rates and protocols, simplifying testing and leveraging your investment. [view products: link to Combo Table page]
